The next chapter in the Call of Duty universe is preparing to spread its wings for flight, as Modern Warfare 2 begins to move past its halfway lifespan mark and starts a decline to the next annual release.

Originally, Modern Warfare 2 was supposed to be a two-year title, but recent Activision admissions confirmed that Call of Duty 2023 is definitely happening. Now, details surrounding its announcement have been found, and it points towards another Warzone event that will reveal the new game.

Following confirmation that Call of Duty 2023 is poised, and the Zombies will be entering the Modern Warfare series for the first time, a report has now surfaced regarding the announcement of the game.

Akin to Vanguard and Cold War, Insider Gaming has indicated that Call of Duty 2023 will be revealed through an in-game Warzone event.

The event, which could be the second Warzone 2 event behind a teased monster-themed collaboration, will likely see a range of Easter eggs deployed where players will work together to solve puzzles and reveal the unnamed game.

With Call of Duty 2023 supposedly set for an in-game reveal, Insider Gaming also mentions that the worldwide reveal - or the event's start - is pencilled in for August 1.

This is a late window for a Call of Duty annual release reveal, as players would usually be able to get their hands on beta codes for the next game during the Call of Duty League World Championships stream. They're occurring on June 18 this year.

Previous in-game Warzone reveals have also altered the course of the battle royale storyline too, with the destruction of Verdansk bleeding into the Vanguard era.

Insider Gaming claimed that it's also unlikely that we'll see a dev showcase straight away, meaning we will probably not have Call of Duty appear in the rumoured PlayStation showcase. Unfortunately, this means it will be nothing like the CoD: Next event either.
