Cue some Darth Vader-inspired heavy breathing because it sounds like Fortnite is about to get another massive Star Wars crossover. While Fortnite's Chapter 3 Season 2's Battle Pass looks like it'll focus on more Marvel madness with Prowler and Doctor Strange, there's a rumbling in the Force that another crossover with the galaxy far, far away, is on the way.

Fortnite is no stranger to Star Wars crossovers, and you might remember the Rise of Skywalker tie-in of 2019. The map was invaded by the Millennium Falcon, TIE Fighters, and the First Order. If that wasn't enough, we had the Mandalorian themed hunting season that gave us an adorable Baby Yoda back bling, or what about the recent dump of content for The Book of Boba Fett? Well, get ready to whoosh those sabers.

When Are Lighstabers Coming To Fortnite?

Twitter account LunakisLeaks has delved deep into the files and claims four lightsabers will be added at some point in Chapter 3 Season 2. Sure to slice and dice the competition, we're reportedly getting Kylo Ren's crossguard, Luke's green lightsaber, Rey's blue lightsaber, and Mace Windu's purple blade. Sob, no more Darth Maul's dual lightsaber?

There's even apparent gameplay footage that shows you'll be able to block defensively, while also having the ability to attack with your OP weapon. Remembering that lightsabers originally arrived in late 2019 and were then brought back to celebrate Star Wars Day for May 4, 2020, the upcoming Star Wars Day could be one to mark in the diary. May is also a supersized month for all things Jedi, as it's when Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi comes to Disney+.

If you still aren't convinced, remember there were recent rumours that Chapter 3 Season 2 would be a full-blown Star Wars season. This was later debunked by all the usual big names, however, the idea must've started somewhere. By the looks of it, the leaks were on the money that we'd be getting more Star Wars content, just not an entire season set on Tatooine.

What Have Fans Said About Lighstabers Coming Back?

With it looking increasingly likely these leaks are legit, Fortnite fandom was split on whether lightsabers were a welcome return or an annoying cash grab on pop culture. One fan gushed, "I think the lightsabers was the most fun i have had in fortnite besides the no build...," while another cheered, "Can't wait to be Tom Holland's Spider-Man with a f*****g lightsaber."

Still, there were all the usual complaints that lightsabers have no place in Fortnite. Someone fumed, "Please say there's gonna be at least some way of countering them. There were barely any last time." Another critic concluded, "Those were so annoying. Blocked absolutely every bullet." It's true that lightsabers weren't perfect, but it's likely the devs have reworked them to stop them from being an unstoppable addition to your arsenal. Namely, we're just going wild over the concept of Fortnite having lightsabers and no build. We can only dream.
