Patch 1.000.300 for Helldivers 2 has a line in the release notes that talks about how Fog Generators have had their health and armour increased, but many in the community are confused as this isn't ever mentioned in the game

Helldivers 2 is continuing with its frequent updates that balances various parts of the game, and despite releasing comprehensive patch notes for these each time, there are references in them that don't make sense immediately. This time it's the Fog Generators, so what exactly are they?

Fog Generators explained

Fog Generators is just another name for the Spore Spewers that can be found in-game on Terminid controlled planets.

These cover whole swathes of the map in a thick fog-like cloud of spores, that can only be cleared by destroying the Spore Spewer itself.

The recent update increased both the health and armour of Spore Spewers, making them much harder to kill than before. Before the update, they were one of the most trivial side objectives, as they could be taken down by most primary weapons with a full magazine.

How to destroy Fog Generators?

Due to the armour now on the Spore Spewers, they can only be taken down with weapons or Stratagems that damage medium or heavy armour. This means all your primary weapons are essentially useless on it.

I used to use the strategy of sniping it with an Autocannon, and thankfully this still works, though it requires a few more shots.

The EAT or Recoilless Rifle are other great choices for support weapons, along with big, explosive Stratagems like the Eagle 500KG bomb.
