Gaming giants 100 Thieves has been slowly mulling over their entrance into game development, with their ongoing Project X silently flying under the radar.

But in a surprise turn of events, the steamer-heavy and apparel-loving esports organisation has now dipped its developing toes into Fortnite.

Using the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), 100 Thieves has now announced a custom game named "Bank Heist," which will serve as a 3v3 Fortnite skirmish featuring three game modes.

With a streamer-heavy influence, including figures within 100 Thieves like Jack "CouRage" Dunlop, Rachel "Valkyrae" Hofstetter, and Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag, the Bank Heist game will feature three game modes: Attack the Vault, Escort the Payload, and Extract the Cash.

The multiplayer game includes all of your classic Fortnite No Build stylistics and gunplay alongside game modes that are derived from other titles like Call of Duty and Overwatch. 100 Thieves describe the game as an "innovative take on the competitive multiplayer extraction genre [made] in just a few weeks."

Bank Heist won't be their only Fortnite venture either, as the group has revealed its intentions to keep capitalising on this new market alongside the development of their shooter Project X.

"This is a new platform with tens of millions of users. So, it offers a complete reset of the existing competitive landscape," said John Robinson, President & COO of 100 Thieves.

"The advantages of incumbent publishers such as IP, massive development teams, and $100M+ marketing budgets are largely neutralized on new platforms. Major publishers didn't figure out mobile until after successful players like Rovio with Angry Birds and Supercell with Clash of Clans emerged. And, we think UEFN could offer the same opportunity."

The Bank Heist game is now live via the code 3339-4063-3278, where you might be lucky enough to run into the 100 Thieves streamers.
