It only seems like a matter of time before story writing in some of the blockbuster games becomes so parallel with the movie industry, TV adaptations or movies based on our favourite titles will be creating Barbenheimer-levels of hype.

Already Mario, Uncharted, The Last of Us, and more have become huge successes on the streets of Hollywood, but one area is largely yet to be conquered...and that's anime.

Following in the footsteps of League of Legends' Arcane series could now be Final Fantasy, as the colossal gaming fable could be getting prepared for a TV Series. Director Naoki Yoshida claims that he would "like" to do a Final Fantasy 14 TV Series in the future.

Final Fantasy 14 Director Naoki Yoshida would 'like to do a TV Series'

Final Fantasy 14 (the rebooted version) is one of the most beloved games in the series and has often been dubbed as the one game that could break into TV. It's not hard to see, especially with its award-winning expansions like Stormblood, Shadowbringers, and Endwalker all developing the story ten-fold.

So with a wealth of writing material to go off, players have often pined for an anime spin-off based on FFXIV. Now, Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida has teased fans by opening FFXIV up to adaptations.

Speaking in a press conference at the Final Fantasy Fan Festival 2023 (translation courtesy of Famitsu), Yoshida said, "There are times when I would like to do a TV series if I could be the executive producer."

"FFXIV has never said no to requests to make spin-offs, anime, or movies. In fact, we have received many inquiries from various places," Yoshida added.

Naoki Yoshida claims a Final Fantasy 14 would be 'solid', but not now

Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker

Not only would a Final Fantasy XIV anime series be quite the prospect for fans of the game, but Yoshida also thinks it would do well. That's if they ever get around to making one.

"If FFXIV were to develop in such a way, I'd be very particular about how to make it into a work without breaking the image that the players have. When the opportunity comes, I think we will deliver something of solid quality," Yoshida continued in the Fan Festival press conference.

However, it doesn't look like we'll get anything soon, as Yoshida has pledged himself to the game series and will not be deviating from FF14 any time soon.

"I am the producer and director of 'FFXIV,' the general manager of the 3rd Development Division, the executive officer, and the director, so I don't think it's possible for me to be the director of the TV series for the time being. I'm here..." he added.

For now, fans will have to continue enjoying Yoshida's work on FFXIV and XVI, which will be more than plentiful for a substantial amount of time. But never rule out a Netflix appearance...
