With Hogwarts Legacy really putting the idea of open in open-world gaming, the sheer size of the game's map means it can sometimes be lonely out there in the Wizarding World.
Well, with only around 224 students in the game, it means those hallowed halls feel a little empty at times. Although we know Avalanche Software has no plans for multiplayer capabilities, a Hogwarts Legacy multiplayer mod is doing it for the devs.
Disclaimer: While the creator of the Harry Potter franchise was not directly involved in the creation of Hogwarts Legacy, their comments on social media around transgender people are hurtful and dangerous given the size of their platform.
We’d implore you to read our explainer of the controversy so far, and consider supporting trans rights charities where possible.

What Is The Hogwarts Legacy Multiplayer Mod
Despite its controversies and some still boycotting the game, Hogwarts Legacy is everywhere right now - topping charts and breaking Twitch records. Still, it's a completely solo experience, meaning the buzz of the school's common rooms is reduced to sometimes wobbly AI and NPCs.
Taking things into their own hands, the team behind Skyrim Together Reborn has turned its attention to the school of witchcraft and wizardry. Dubbed HogWarp, there's some impressive gameplay that shows the mod in action.
Whether you all want to dress in the red and yellows of Gryffindor or branch off into your own warring house factions, the Hogwarts Legacy multiplayer mod has you covered.
Speaking to PC Gamer, mod maker Yamashi explained how there's a current focus "on co-op and roleplay." Up to eight wannabe witches or wizards can play, but that could be more depending on how HogWarp's development goes.
"Our aim is to figure out how to do the basics such as spawning characters with the player's appearance, animations and NPCs," said Yamashi. Sadly, there won't be any multiplayer-specific content: "We want to provide a stable framework so that people can enjoy the vanilla game and maybe extend it themselves later on."
Will Hogwarts Legacy Add Official Multiplayer?
Although it would be wrong to say it's been "easy" to get Hogwarts Legacy multiplayer off the ground, the reason the HogWarp mod has done it so quickly is that the base game uses the same Unreal Engine 4.27.2 as Stray.
Even though Yamashi worked alone on HogWarp, it was a case of reverse-engineering Hogwarts Legacy based on pre-release work on the feline adventure. Sorry though, a Stray Together mod isn't on the way. If you're sold, HogWarp is available through Yamashi's Patreon page.
Sadly, modding is your best shot at zooming around the grounds on your broomsticks. Warner Bros. has repeatedly said it's a single-player game. Interestingly, there are whispers of a Quidditch-based DLC, and if the devs were ever going to add multiplayer, we say that would be a pretty good place to start.
Some hope Hogwarts Legacy could go down the GTA V/GTA Online route, but if not, we could wait for the inevitable Hogwarts Legacy sequel and hope that WB realises the money-making potential of a multiplayer wizarding world. For now, you'll have to assemble your own Dumbledore's Army via modders.
