Astro Bot has been too quiet for too long.

He might have initially won players over with a VR experience, and while that's fundamentally the most immersive way to experience a game, Astro Bot won players over the most when his PS showcase Astro's Playroom touched down with the PS5, with many fans boldly claiming that the game deserves to be considered in the upper echelon of historical platform games.

Ever since he won hearts across the world, he's been sat a little dormant - until now.

A new Astro Bot trademark has appeared

Could this finally be it?

Gematsu has thankfully spotted that Astro could be on the way back to PS5 fans, as a new trademark for the character has been listed in Europe.

The trademark isn't for what looks to be a video game, but rather a refreshed trademark for the Astro Bot character, which would often imply that a game isn't coming, but the revival of the trademark implies that something behind the scenes at PlayStation when it comes to Astro.

With Sony amplifying the team at Team Asobi, it's no surprise that PlayStation wants to bet all of its chips on Astro - but the question now turns to what exactly is happening with him.

What is Astro Bot up to?

Fans have theorised that a fully-fledged platformer could be coming from Team Asobi after players fell so head over heels for Astro Bot, rather than a game that could easily be reduced to a tech demo. It'd be great to see such a title from the character, especially as Team Asobi have proved that they can certainly manage some big platforming fun.

Ultimately, though, we won't know what the team is up to until it's officially announced - and judging by that refreshed trademark, it thankfully shouldn't be long. Bring it on.
