The next Baldur's Gate 3 update will be released on 22 September and will bring a highly requested feature to the RPG.

On Twitter, Larian confirmed that a new camp item would allow players to change some elements of their character's appearance whenever they like.

The new Magic Mirror lets players change some aspects of their character's appearance

The character customisation in Baldur's Gate 3 is one of the most detailed and expansive in gaming. With the ability to choose almost all of the physical characteristics, players could make almost any Tav their heart desired.

However, once players confirmed their character, there was no way to change any of their features. While this may make sense for some elements like body type and race, not being able to change hairstyles and accessories is an unusual choice.

As part of Patch 3, which will be released on 22 September, the Magic Mirror item will be added to the camp, allowing players to change their appearance, voice and pronouns at will.

The mirror will let you change your own character, however, it does not allow any of the origin characters or party members to change how they look.

Players are excited about the Magic Mirror

Given how much time many Baldur's Gate 3 players put into the character customisation screen before starting the actual game, it makes sense that they are equally excited about the ability to return to it at will.

Anyone who was torn between two hairstyles or who is regretting that face tattoo can finally jump in and right their wrongs.

Some players are even able to go in and fundamentally change their gameplay experience. One player stated that they had accidentally set their male Tav as having she/her pronouns when making the character. Being able to change their pronouns will mean they are no longer being misgendered.

Twitter user WaveGeist said: "YEAAAHH now my boy Kizmet the barbarian no longer be misgendered LMFAO. Thank You!"

Some players are worried Magic Mirror will make Mask of the Shapeshifter irrelevant

Some players have raised concerns that the introduction of the Magic Mirror will make the exclusive Digital Deluxe Edition item, Mask of the Shapeshifter, irrelevant.

While the Mask of the Shapeshifter allows players to cast Disguise Self, this allows for the ability to change the character's race and gender as opposed to changing smaller details like hairstyles.

This means that players who purchased the digital deluxe edition can be assured that their mask will still be an exclusive item.
