The best things in life do come free, and when all you need to do is be ahead of the game, then free items are not much easier to come by.

Ahead of the release of Modern Warfare 2, Activision has already rolled out the red carpet to players with goodie bags, which included free content for the current Vanguard and Warzone players.

Now, as pre-orders are rapidly flowing in, they've promised some more.

Activision To Give Out More Pre-Order Gifts For Modern Warfare 2

Any player who has pre-ordered Modern Warfare 2 so far has been granted access to the early access open beta and unlocked the Final Judgement bundle in Warzone and Vanguard which boasts an Automaton Blueprint and a skin for Lucas.

But that won't be all, as Activision has now confirmed that the first offering is just one of "several" instant pre-order rewards for Modern Warfare 2.

Taking to a blog post, Activision teased more giveaways, which will likely all come into force for the final few weeks of Vanguard's lifeline and Warzone.

Unfortunately, though, the incentives will be Vanguard and Warzone exclusive, and will not carry over to Modern Warfare 2, given that the developers have confirmed that your current skins and bundles won't carry over to Warzone 2

Activision Tease Modern Warfare 2 Characters Coming To Vanguard and Warzone

"Intel suggests that a familiar foe may be crossing over into Vanguard as part of another bonus bundle, coming soon..." reads the Call of Duty blog. Familiar foes don't come much more noticeable than the likes of Makarov and Shepherd, and given that Modern Warfare 2 will feature a range of characters from the similarly named 2008 instalment, such as Task Force 141, it wouldn't be a surprise if the same baddies were back in some capacity too. Who else would be better suited to celebrate the Modern Warfare 2 pre-order?

In the same breath though, with the arrival of Shi No Numa in Vanguard and free access to all players, maybe the familiar foe could be Edward Richtofen. The iconic zombies antagonist isn't associated with the Modern Warfare series, but yet again, neither was Lucas who was given a skin in the last bundle.

The blog post didn't detail when, or what, rewards will be coming, but you'll be wanting to keep your eyes peeled in the coming weeks.
