One of Actvision’s most damaging stances to Warzone was its insistence on limiting the map pool. Remember how the original Verdansk was completely removed for its 1984 variant, and then, this was then decimated in place of Caldera?
This left devoted players without any wiggle room to revisit their favourite maps of the past and were instead forced to play maps they favoured less.
However, the developers have since addressed that this was one of their downfalls, and admitted that a map rotation would've increased the size of the game too drastically to allow Call of Duty fans to house it on their consoles.
But with the sequel, the devs may have revisited this and are looking to take an Apex Legends-like approach to the map pool, and the return of Black Ops 4's Blackout map could be on the cards.
Activision Hint At Blackout Return For Warzone 2
In a recent survey, Activision wants to learn what their players have enjoyed in the past iterations of the Call of Duty battle royale experience, and what they would like to see in the future.
One question has surprised fans though, as Activision has offered the chance for fans to vote for the return of Verdansk, Caldera, Blackout, or something brand-new.
The addition of Treyarch’s Blackout has excited many fans who feel that the new style of movement and Warzone 2’s consistent game style would suit the design.
Warzone 2 Fans Want Classic Maps In Rotated Playlist
With the possibility of having a string of remastered maps, and even some completely new designs, fans have now called for the developers to implement rotating maps like other BRs such as Apex.
This would allow multiple maps to be active in the game, but work on a rotational basis so players can continue to create more exciting content and enjoy multiple landscapes rather than the same one for months on end.
A new map is set to come in the Resurgence field when Season 2 airs in February, but that could also open up the doors for two separately rotating playlists for each way to play in Warzone 2.
