The Pokedex is… a mixed bag, to say the least. A lot of Pokemon have an incredibly sweet little backstory that details their diet and favourite places, but others are much more sinister.
The likes of Koffing, Cubone, and Gastly have pretty bleak entries in the Dex - making them some of the most depressing creatures in the Pokemon universe. It barely stops there with some really bleak stuff, to the point where you'd forget that the series is actually designed for children. Sometimes though, entries aren't all scary. In fact, they're a little bit fruity.
Dodrio Might Have Three Members
Oh. Thanks to a Pokedex entry from Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, we might know much more about the Triple Bird Pokemon Dodrio than we ever would have wanted.
As shared on Reddit, one user has reminded players of just how invasive the Pokedex can be, in a photo of a Game Boy Advance SP playing Pokemon Sapphire.
"Apparently, the heads aren't the only parts of the body that DODRIO has three of," the entry reads. Why would they curse us with this knowledge? We're seriously hoping they're referring to the toes on each foot of Dodrio, because otherwise, we're going to need an incredibly hot shower.
The OG post has nearly 50k upvotes, and safe to say, we're shocked. One joked "So question, does it have 3 balls or 9," while another added, "They mean brains right?....right?!!!!!" The entry continues on the next page to confirm it's three hearts and three lungs, but come on, the devs knew what they were doing with this one. But that's not where the bizarre entries end.
The Pokedex Is Surprisingly Twisted
There are an awful lot of horrifying details lying in wait in the Pokedex, and we're not just talking about the number of wangs that Dodrio may or may not have.
Across all of the generations of Pokemon, we've seen Cacturne, whose blood has adapted into sand, Yamask who is an old spirit in search of someone who recognises them, and Lampent who stalks those who are nearing their death. There is of course Cubone, one of the most well-known dark Pokedex entries, whose skull helmet is fashioned from the skull of its mother. Blimey.
It's easy to forget that Pokemon is actually for kids with entires like this, especially considering the suggestion that Dodrio might be packing some serious heat. Looks like the world of Pokemon isn't exactly as innocent as we once thought.
