While some Warzone players may yearn for the golden age to return by bringing Verdansk back, others have put their faith into Caldera and Rebirth Island for the meantime, in hope that a new dawn will bring with it a revived interest. With Warzone 2 on the horizon, it's apparent as to why, but where the franchise is going to be taking us has been hotly debated.
Prior to Caldera's release, rumours spiked of a Ural Mountains map which was ultimately cancelled, while others scanned the current and previous multiplayer map pools to envision a London or Urzikstan-based landscape for Warzone to move towards.
But as Warzone 2 grows closer, it appears that none of these will play host to the new battle royale, and instead, a new location will be introduced featuring some of the most iconic places in the Modern Warfare franchise's history.
All Leaked Warzone 2 Map POIs
According to renowned leaker Tom Henderson, via eXputer, at least four Modern Warfare maps will be featured in the unnamed location, bringing together Quarry, Afghan, Terminal, and Highrise, littered across the map.
However, that doesn't end the list of POIs, of course, as Henderson then revealed a full list of leaked Warzone 2 map POIs.
- Airport (Terminal)
- Caves (Afgan)
- Dam
- Fishtown
- Fort
- Harbor
- Graveyard
- Marshes
- Modern City (Highrise)
- Mountain town (assumed Fevela)
- Oasis
- Observatory
- Oilfield
- Oldtown
- Quarry (Quarry)
- Shipwreck
- Sira
- Wartorn
According to the leaks, Quarry, Highrise, and Afghan will be located quite close together in the top left of the map (North West), with Highrise's Modern City being one of the more densely populated areas taking a similar role to Downtown in Verdansk.
Terminal is reported to be the most South-Eastern POI, possibly being significant in any Warzone 2 storylines, given an aeroplane could be a very good getaway from sweeping danger - oh, not to forget that a possibly-returning Verdansk also has an airport...
Interestingly, Favela is also rumoured to be included as Mountain Town, which suggests that the setting of the map will be within Brazil, given Christ the Redeemer overlooks the map. Quarry is also located in Brazil, which could slip right in, while the other multiplayer maps will likely need a Latina makeover.
Either way, it appears that the Warzone 2 map POIs will skid into the nostalgia, bringing together the old-school and new players.
