The internet is ablaze with debate surrounding the Joe Rogan vs. Neil Young Spotify drama. However, Kaitlyn "Amouranth" Siragusa has decided to give a more comedic twist to the drama.
When it comes to keeping up to date with the very latest trends, Amouranth is the one to go to. After all, she quickly became one of Twitch's most popular female streamers after jumping on to the controversial 'Hot Tub Meta'.
Over her career, she has continued to add her voice to some of the most trending topics which swamp the internet. So, it wasn't a surprise when Amouranth decided to take a swipe at the drama surrounding Spotify podcaster Joe Rogan and music legend, Neil Young.
What Is The Drama Surrounding Spotify, Joe Rogan, and Neil Young?
Spotify, Joe Rogan, and Neil Young. Not a completely unconnected group list of names, but it's not exactly a trio you would expect to see grouped together. However, this all changed on January 24, when Canadian musician Neil Young penned a now-deleted open letter to Spotify (which has been saved by Rolling Stone). He ordered the site to remove his music.
The reason was that Young claimed Rogan's hugely popular podcast was spreading "dangerous" and "incorrect" information about the Coronavirus vaccine, which was "potentially causing death." Calling on Spotify to take down Rogan's podcast, Young's comment "they can have Rogan or Young. Not both" has also become a favourite quote repeated across social media.
Fellow music legend Joni Mitchell also added her name to the mix and issued a statement declaring that she was standing alongside friend Young, as well as "the global scientific and medical communities" who were advocating for the vaccine. Spotify followed suit and subsequently removed both artists' music from the site. Although, Rogan's controversial podcasts stayed up.
In response, Rogan posted a lengthy video on Instagram in which he pledged he would "try harder to get people with differing opinions" on his show. Yet, he denied spreading misinformation on his show and that he "never tried to do anything with this podcast other than just talk to people." Rogan also stated that he has no beef with either Young or Mitchell and that he is a huge fan of both artists.
Joe Rogan vs Neil Young: Amouranth Reacts
Following the drama, Twitch streamer Amouranth decided to poke some fun at the drama as well as herself. On February 2, she posted a Tweet in which she stated: "If Spotify doesn't remove Joe Rogan, then I will be removing my rap video from the platform." She also echoed Young's words saying "they can have me or Joe Rogan. Not both."
For those who aren't familiar, Amouranth was clearly poking fun at her "cringe" rap song 'Down Bad', which was panned by viewers and listeners... much to her delight. While other artists may not have the same reaction to the news, Amouranth claimed that her whole intention for the song was to make it as "memeable" as possible. But, if Spotify doesn't take her threat seriously, it might not be up for much longer.
