Keep an eye on your bank accounts, because Twitch streamer Kaitlyn "Amouranth" Siragusa claims that she has lost $2 million due to her bank making a "typo" error.
As well as being of the most popular streamers on Twitch, Amouranth has also proven herself to be a crafty businesswoman, regularly keeping her fans up to speed with some of her ingenious, if a little random, investments. For example, she left fans feeling a little confused after invested in a 7/11 gas station for $4 million, but has continued to impress many more with her stock market know-how.
However, Amouranth has understandably been left a little frazzled after finding out that $2 million worth of her money had been lost by the bank due to a "typo."
How Did Amouranth Lose $2 Million?
In a Twitter post on March 5, Amouranth teased her fans with a cryptic post asking "What would you do if you checked your checking account and found $2 million dollars? Relevant Q, will tell a story later." Fans quickly began to ponder just exactly what they would do with such a mind-blowing amount of money. However, the 28-year-old revealed that for one lucky, unsuspecting person out there, that dream may well be a reality.
Amouranth followed on by revealing that, what should have been a simple bank account transfer, ended up in her losing $2 million due to a bank error. In the tweet, Amouranth explained: "Basically I was trying to move money from a biz account to an account I use to make investments, and the bank placed it in some random person's account due to a "typo." Somewhere out there is a person who got a crazy deposit notification."
Amouranth explained that she first noticed something was wrong after waiting an unusual amount of time for her millions to arrive in the account. She continued: "I figured it was just a slow transaction, so the money sat in that person's account for a while… collecting interest?"
Can Amouranth Get Her Money Back?
It doesn't look like Amouranth will be affected too harshly by the error. After fans showed their concern as to whether or not she will get her money back, Amouranth stated: "I believe they will reverse it. Went into another account with the bank." She also claimed that the confusion resulted in the bank asking her if she had another name for the account to which she said: "This isn't Casino Royale how could I have an account under another name."
There's been no update from Amouranth about whether she managed to get the $2 million back into her account, as of writing. However, with all the money she's made from her Cutie Pa-TOOT-ties fart jars, she would probably be able to make up the funds back quite quickly anyway.
