Apex Legends' Final Fantasy Rebirth crossover kicked off on January 9, with the premium addition being the Buster Sword Heirloom.
Having the chance to equip Cloud Strife's weapon had countless fans excited, especially given it isn't restricted to a specific character.
However, now the Buster Sword is finally in the hands of the community, they've voiced their disappointment over the design. In their opinion, it's actually "pay to lose" due to its size and how much of the screen it covers in-game.
Apex Legends players flame huge Buster Sword Heirloom
Taking to the Apex Legends subreddit, user SbeveGobs sparked a discussion among the community after voicing that the Buster Sword obscures "20% of your vision" and labelling the Heirloom as "pay to lose."
The majority of fans agreed, even arguing that this could've been "easily prevented with a different stance." Others were confused about how the handle of the weapon manages to cover so much of the screen, but you "can't even see the sword."
"Apex continues to disappoint," said one user, with another claiming it's "almost as bad as Pathfinder's Heirloom yet much more expensive." Some defended the Heirloom, making it clear that you don't have to buy it and no one was forcing it on you. However, the overall reception to the Mythic item has been poor.
How much does the Buster Sword Heirloom cost in Apex Legends?
Depending on your luck, the Buster Sword can cost just over $300 to obtain, but it's possible to get hold of it much cheaper than that if luck is on your side.
However, it's this game of chance that is keeping a lot of players away from buying the Final Fantasy packs, and given the Buster Sword has fewer animations than a typical Heirloom, the community is finding it hard to justify handing over the cash.
