Apex Legends fans divided over whether superglides should be 'removed'

Apex Legends fans are divided over whether the 'superglide' movement mechanic should be "removed" from the game.

Apex Legends' smooth and buttery movement is one of the biggest factors that separates it from the competition.

Of course, over the years, highly skilled players have refined these techniques and even developed advanced mechanics.

One of the most popular is called super gliding and it allows you to boost off a ledge for a massive burst of momentum. However, lowering the game's frame rate is a method competitors use to more consistently pull off superglides.

For some in the community, it's unacceptable that Apex's performance needs to be altered to use a mechanic and the devs need to address this, or "remove" it from the game.

Apex Legends players call on devs to make super glides "consistent"

Taking to the Apex Legends subreddit, user alekdmcfly argued that "super glides should either be consistent or removed from the game."

For them, it's not a problem that the mechanic is difficult, it's the fact that there's a random "chance" that the technique will simply not work because you performed it at the "end of a frame." They claim "muscle memory can be trained, but you cannot synchronize your hand-eye coordination to 60FPS."

It's unfair in the eyes of some players that you have to lower your FPS "for a bigger chance of a tech working," as it feels like you're forced to use worse performance.

As a result, the solution for most is simple, Respawn needs to make super gliding more consistent and make it so that whenever you land the input correctly, the mechanic will always be executed.

Other Apex fans want all movement "glitches" removed completely

Caustic Apex Legends

Other Apex players have a more cynical view towards movement mechanics and argue these unintended "glitches" should be wiped out of the game completely.

In their eyes, a technique that initially began as a bug should not be accepted as an in-game skill, and the devs need to take a stand against these movement mechanics.

"I really dislike the amount of glitches in the game that are considered movement tech, if they cannot be done consistently they shouldn’t be considered an actual part of the game’s movement system," said one user, with another arguing "Honestly I feel like all the movement techs that just exploit how a 20-year-old engine interprets physics should be patched out."

A fix for consistency may be a possibility in the future, but a removal of these mechanics completely seems very unlikely. The devs would face major backlash as they've become such a fundamental part of Apex's skill gap.
