Apex Legends' Inner Beast Collection Event has arrived, and while fans are happy with Octane's Heirloom recolour, the rest of the package hasn't exactly gone down a treat.
The main feature of the patch is a Takeover called The Hunt, which gives teams the chance to pick up datapads that track enemy squads.
This gives competitors the opportunity to be the hunter and the hunted, raising the stakes and making matches significantly bloodier. However, the update has annoyed many players who like standard Battle Royale and hate being forced to play these "miserable" spin-off variants.
Apex Legends fans slam Respawn for taking away standard pubs
Some Apex Legends players aren't happy with The Hunt Takeover and have ventured to the subreddit to voice their anger.
For them, the biggest issue with Takeovers is that they replace pubs and are not allocated as a secondary mode. As a result, they're forced to play with the tracker datapads that have come with Inner Beast, which some think are "miserable" to deal with.
They argue that this UAV feature heavily benefits Trios and teams in comms, making the solo player experience extremely poor. Ultimately, certain community members are tired of having Takeover events "forced" upon them with no alternatives outside of Ranked.
"I really wish they would stop adding the forced events and just make it a separate gamemode," said one user, with another arguing, "It was bad enough higher tier players were just chasing down everyone in the lobbies, now they have markers to know where you are."
Apex Legends devs respond to Inner Beast complaints
Luckily, the devs have been keeping an eye on community feedback and decided to respond to the thread themselves. Keeping it short and sweet, they simply said that feedback had been "noted all around about LTMs and Takeovers" and relayed back to the team.
While not a confirmation that Takeovers will become their own modes, it does at least show they're listening and know how players feel.
