Apex Legends Fans Slam Warzone Devs For Stealing Idea

Apex Legends fans have lost their minds as Warzone leaks suggest one unique feature is being ripped off.

Warzone has become the master of taking small elements of all the existing battle royales and mashing them together in one huge melee.

If it's not the continually updated map from Fortnite, a PUBG-inspired loot collection, or limited-time game modes at Halloween ripped straight out of Apex Legends' jar of spooks, the Warzone devs often save out on originality for a simple adaptation of an already successful feature. Now, it appears they are back to their usual tricks, and Apex Legends fans are fuming.

One of Apex Legends' selling points is the uniqueness of their maps and the speed you can operate within them. Sprinkled with movement utility from Wraith, Pathfinder, Ash, and Valkyrie, the Outlands' maps have many ways to move from one POI to the next, and it appears Warzone developers have been paying close attention.

Redeploy Ballons Leaked To Land In Warzone

Heading into Call of Duty: Vanguard Season 2, and a new chapter in Caldera, Raven Software have been leaked to be adding redeploy balloons into Warzone, an exact replica of the Apex Legends feature.

An image released from Charlie Intel shows operators flying from a redeploy balloon, suggesting that they will work in the same way as those in Apex; a player can ascend up the zipline to be launched from the balloon to redeploy their parachutes and descend on an easy rotation to the next POI.

The stalwart movement feature in Apex Legends has been within the game since its conception, with old-school fans of the title remembering shooting away from Skull Town with a Bloodhound Ultimate activated to land upon the hunters' next prey.

Apex Legends Fuming At Warzone For Stealing Features

Having seen the leaks surface on social media, Apex fans were immediately outraged, with one fan jibing "I guess they thought 'they killed our game so instead of fixing our problem lets just do what they do!'"

Warzone is also set to add a Portable Decontamination Station, where a player can safely make an area within the gas that is not dangerous, taking the emphasis away from gas masks allowing players to loot within the storm and take no damage - also a feature that has been in Apex Legends with 'Heat Shields'.

"Call of Duty Warzone: Write that down!! Write that down!!" joked another Apex Legends fan, before others made references to the ping system that was first seen in the battle royale realms within the Respawn Entertainment title before being adapted in every other game.

Some fans did appreciate that Apex has taken inspiration from CoD in the past too, with the Replicators being a similar design to the Warzone Buy Stations, whilst some fans noted that 'storm flip' was in Fortnite before both of the first-person shooters.

Both the Redeployable Balloons and Portable Decontamination Stations are set to be added to Warzone in Vanguard Season 2, which commences on February 14.
