Well, if Apex Legends really is dying, then why not go out swinging from Pathfinder's zipline?

That seems to be the spirit coming out of the Respawn Entertainment camp as the declining player count and a questionable Battle Pass have been tempting players to finally put down the launch pads for the last time.

But amid the decline, a new map looks to be on its way to draw those players back, and it's giving off major Cyberpunk 2077 vibes.

District map leaks suggest Apex Legends is going Cyberpunk

Rumours of the next Apex Legends map, District, have been swirling for a few weeks, with the latest legend Alter bringing some rather obvious teasers.

Alter's cinematic first 'leaked' the District map as she jabbed with Horizon at a location never-before explored in the Apex universe, nearby to the Humbert Labs (the workplace of Caustic seen in other cutscenes).

Now, this nighttime map has been leaked again by Twitter leaker "Osvaldatore", who appears to have shared a range of pictures of the POIs.

The proposed map is glossed over with neon lights everywhere you look, bringing together the 1970s and 2070s.

"Aight now this is cool. Giving me cyberpunk vibes which I'm all here for," said one fan on Twitter. "Rare Apex W," they added.

District also gives off some Olympus energy in its general appearance, with Japanese-inspired blossom trees highlighting the fluorescent pink glow of neon signs.

The map would come as the sixth battle royale landscape added to Apex Legends, following Kings Canyon, World's Edge, Olympus, Storm Point, and Broken Moon.

Whether District will be enough to paper over some of the emerging cracks in Apex Legends' ecosystem, or whether it will be the most colourful swan song yet, will surely be determined in the coming weeks.
