Aim Assist is the old beating stick for any console gamer to bludgeon over the heads of their mouse and keyboard foes.

After years of tiny increases in strength, Aim Assist is now at an all-time high in an abundance of shooter titles. But that is about to change, as Apex Legends has changed its stance on the system and decided to give it a massive nerf.

Apex Legends nerfs Aim Assist heavily

Apex Legends has a much higher divide between controller gameplay and mouse and keyboard than most of its competitors, and Respawn has often tried its best to balance them out. While controllers have aim assist, MnK often have movement benefits like tap strafing.

But in crossplay lobbies (only), Apex Legends has now nerfed aim assist by 25%, making it less sticky, especially at longer ranges.

The developers confessed that it was "too strong" and a lot of MnK players had recently made the switch over to controller after understanding how beneficial Aim Assist is over movement boosts.

Call of Duty fans want the Apex treatment for Aim Assist

Apex Legends and Call of Duty are trading off features like there's no tomorrow this week. Already, CoD nabbed Apex's patented esports format, while Respawn announced its answer to the Resurgence playlist in Warzone by revealing Revivials in Apex.

Now, CoD fans have rallied behind Apex's stance on Aim Assist. "Yea CoD should do this," said one fan, while another added, "Yes, they should." A third concluded, "COD needs a 50% reduction let’s be honest".

Apex's nerfs come into play on August 8, when players will be able to test their aim properly. Maybe loading up XDefiant for a few shots beforehand might be a good play, as Aim Assist is getting the cold shoulder everywhere.
