Apex Legends players are beginning to "hate" the OP Buster Sword, as the novelty of the powerful melee weapon is finally wearing off.

The Buster Sword in Apex Legends was the star of the show at the start of the Final Fantasy Rebirth event. Running around the Outlands with Cloud Strife's iconic weapon in hand was unbelievably fun and satisfying to secure eliminations.

However, as the weeks have passed, the community has grown more and more frustrated with the weapon - arguing it's far too OP.

While using the blade does force you to get up close and personal with your opponents, it's capable of killing an enemy in the blink of an eye. Pair this with an immensely strong blocking ability means the community is finally calling out the Buster as "stupid" and overpowered.

Apex Legends slam Buster Sword's "stupid" blocking ability

Taking to the Apex Legends subreddit, user Kutuzov9505 decided to show how absurd the Buster Sword can be to deal with, especially in the hands of a Revenant with his Ultimate activated.

Despite pumping eight Longbow shots into the foe on the Firing Range, the Sword managed to block nearly all of the damage. On top of that, while soaking up all the damage, the enemy also managed to close the gap. Once they landed, it was lights out for Kutuzov9505 in three swings of the deadly melee weapon.

As you would expect, a lot of Apex fans have grown tired of being taken down by the Buster Sword and believe it's a little overturned.

"My thing with it is, it's such a dull grey that I don't notice I'm shooting at a blocking player until it's too late and they jump my ass," said one user, with another arguing, "I still think it's really funny that a person can fly from across the map to your exact location and murder you with little to no interruptions."

Other Apex fans just wish Final Fantasy takeover was an LTM

Of course, there are those who are embracing the chaos, arguing it's "absolutely unbalanced and stupid and I love it." Getting the chance to wield a huge blade and dominate an enemy squad is a lot of fun, but some players wish Respawn didn't completely take over Trios with the Final Fantasy event.

"The sword is not supposed to be balanced, it's just unfortunate they put this mode in replacement of pubs." With this in mind, it'll be interesting to see whether the devs approach limited-time weapons a little differently in future. Taking over pubs does force players to take part in these collabs, but some fans just want the vanilla Apex experience.
