Just as the future of Apex Legends began to look less-than-bright, Respawn Entertainment has swung in Kraber-first to send shockwaves through the battle royale space with the new season... literally.

Shockwave, or Apex Legends Season 22, has officially been unveiled, breathing life and promise back into a title that separated needed cheering up.

Filled with new game modes, weapons, perks, and a whole new map, Apex Legends: Shockwave is finally here.

E-District map to launch with Apex Legends: Shockwave

Apex Legends' sixth map has been revealed as  E-District. The cyberpunk-themed map looks like it was pulled from a futuristic version of the '70s. It was first teased by Respawn in Season 21 with Alter's cinematics, and now the nightfallen map is finally here.

Taking inspiration from the popular Arena's map Party Crasher, E-District has a touch of Olympus' blossomed nature and World's Edge's metropolis, combining together to be one of the most beautiful designs we've seen yet.

Apex Legends Shockwave features akimbo pistols and respawn modes

The 22nd season of Apex Legends will also see another huge LTM change, as Revivals mode arrives, answering Warzone's Resurgence playlists, where your life is not as valued and you can respawn from the skies if you time out.

There's a change to the loot systems, as you can now boast Akimbo pistols. It's not yet sure how the system works, but from the Shockwave trailer, it appears you can pick up a second pistol (it must be the same as your first) and combine them together in your loadout.

The Mozambique and P2020 were shown in the trailer, while the Wingman wasn't. Either way, it looks like it'll be double the trouble when Shockwave launches.

Changes to perks are imminent too, as Class Perks and Battle Sense are now upgradable. Apex Legends Shockwave will begin on August 6, where all of these new features will come into play alongside some usual tweaks to the weapon pool and Legends' abilities.
