Apex Predators blamed for ruining a fan-favourite legend

Caustic has flopped to the bottom of the Apex Legends rankings and the community is blaming the Predators.

Being an Apex Predator is very much a case of the survival of the fittest, and for the legends, as much as those controlling them, the same goes.

The jungle might not be the same desert plains and tree terrains in the Outlands, but rather a metropolitan on each map, but the same rules apply. If you can't adapt to the surroundings with your kit, you'll soon be left behind.

Now, one of the most beloved species of Apex's legend pool is nearing extinction, as the Predators have farmed Caustic into a critically endangered state.

Caustic plummets in Season 22, and Apex Legends players are left bitter

With the emergence of E-District, many players had high hopes of a Caustic revival, knowing that his workplace of Humbert Labs serves as one of the map POIs.

Yet, off the back of a series of damaging nerfs, Caustic is now ranked as the worst Legend in the game. That is in terms of pick rate, especially in higher lobbies.

As pointed out on Reddit, Caustic found himself as the lowest-picked Legend in the pool for those in high-tier lobbies, joined in the <1% by Seer and Ballistic.

Multiple nerfs and a new health bar (which is visible through his gas) have rendered Caustic moot, and players are targeting the pros as the reason why he is no longer viable.

"According to pros, getting stuck in gas is inconvenience. As if running away as a Skirmisher is not an inconvenience for the opponent. Getting flanked from out of nowhere is not an inconvenience for the opponent," said one fan.

A second scorned player added, "I remember when you could trap people and gas them to death. God what a f**king character before they nerfed him to f**k."

The Legend pool has been widely criticised for a lack of variety as of late, with only a very overpowered buff to Crypto making any sort of dent in the meta.

"Shows how weak a lot of the legends are in the meta when there are 26 legends and 3 of them have a combined pick rate of 49.3% (path, horizon, rev)," summed up someone else.

Caustic has always struggled with mobility, but without a kit that helps to get into areas where he can become effective, it looks like Apex's favourite pyromancer isn't cut out for the jungle anymore.
