Half of the Overwatch League season 6 is done and dusted, as one team is yet to lose a match. On an impressive win streak, the Atlanta Reign put an exclamation point behind their performance with their victory at the Midseason Madness.

Despite the Houston Outlaws threatening their run in a close 3-2 match, the Reign ended the Grand Final with a commanding 4-1 score.

The outstanding performance has sparked a lively debate among fans regarding the season's Most Valuable Player (MVP). After all, most of the MVP nomination-relevant games have been played at this point.

During the press conference after the Grand Finals, Han "ChiYo" Hyeon-seok addressed the discussion. The team also talked about their run and the potential volatility introduced by the new hero and game mode.

The definition of a super team

Three in a row: Summer Showdown 2022 and Grand Finals with the Fuel, Midseason Madness with the Reign.

That's the tournament win streak of Atlanta Reign's starting backline made up ChiYo and Kwon "Fielder" Joon. During the press conference, ChiYo shared that they've stayed just as hungry for more, wanting to continue with the win streak and eyeing a Grand Finals victory.

Lee "LIP" Jae-won shared that he realised before the start of the Midseason Madness that this team was not only likely to win here but go forward to dominate the season and win the Grand Finals as well.

According to LIP, he was confident that at least the Reign's DPS and Supports would be among the best in the league, but his confidence rose during the first scrims of the season and after noticing that the two tank players were able to keep up with the speed of the rest of the team.

Indeed, when asked to locate the edge Reign had on other teams, LIP pointed out the exceptional mechanical ability and situational awareness between Kim "D0NGHAK" Min-sung, Jeong "Stalk3r" Hak-yong and himself.

Fielder highlighted his team's agility and responsive tactics against enemy ultimates as an attribute they excel at.

Five MVP candidates on one team?

In the buzzing MVP discussion, ChiYo believes that every team member should have a say.

If pressed for a name, however, due to the pivotal role of the DPS players, Stalk3r and LIP should be the frontrunners for their dominant performance over other DPS in the League.

A wrench that could be thrown into Atlanta's gears could be the announced introduction of the new hero and game mode that will find its way into the Overwatch League on August 25, according to the pre-finals broadcast.

Despite the imminent changes that may bring volatility in their wake, ChiYo showed little concern. The team's focus remains on practising and mastering the new meta, so ChiYo.

Previously, head coach Blake "Gator" Scott stated that he considered his team to be the most meta-proof team in the League, at the end of the day it comes down to which patch is played during the playoffs and which team it suits best.
