Though Harry Potter was once a source of unbridled magic and curiosity, it's grown to be a symbol of ignorance for its dedicated fans. In many ways, it has become a little distressing to follow the World of Wizardry, what with J.K. Rowling's stance on trans rights and the dramatic collapse in quality that the Fantastic Beasts series has put to the big screen.

The final hope for many is Hogwarts Legacy, the new Avalanche Software game set in a pre-Harry Potter World, that could just bring the magic back to life. But, fans do have some criticisms of what we've seen so far - and it looks like the game's devs are ignoring them.

Hogwarts Legacy's Rubbish UI Is Unchanged After Criticism

Wannabe wizards have had some criticism for the UI that we saw in Hogwarts Legacy's gameplay trailers, and judging by new footage, it seems as though Avalanche Software hasn't taken the hint.

Those interested in the game presumed that the UI of the earlier teasers was a mere placeholder, but a new teaser has implied that it's what we were going to get all along. Reddit has been the hub for the frustration of players, with user u/Ciniqs noticing that the HUD must be the same because the Imperio icon remains the same too.

Of course, Avalanche is well within its rights to keep the HUD the same. It would likely take a lot of work to overhaul the HUD, but at a time people are still threatening to boycott the game, we'd be doing everything in our power to keep them on board. Either way, fans aren't particularly pleased about this janky HUD.

Fans React To Hogwarts Legacy HUD Remaining The Same

The subreddit has responded to the notion of the HUD staying the same, and many of them are reluctantly accepting the lack of change. "I'm not a fan of the Accio symbol, but really that's a personal preference and isn't going to ruin anything for me," says one user.

"We also gave [sic] a glimpse of the icon for the HUD most likely," says another. "Hopefully they improved them for the final version of the game." Wishful thinking. Even though it might be a relatively minor thing, it's become a point of contention. For now, the HUD is staying, so fans are just going to have to put up with it. Sorry, Potterheads.
