If you fancy yourself as something of a master safe-cracker, jump off the Battle Bus and into Fortnite for some easy wins. Epic Games' battle royale favourite is normally pretty good at staying on top of glitches, but for the time being, there's one that lets you keep the Covert Cavern vault keycard.

Chapter 3 Season 1 has completely flipped the Fortnite map (literally) and given us a whole host of new locales to explore. One of the major new POIs has been Covert Cavern - which is an IO and player hot drop. Grabbing the keycard is hard enough, but if you manage to do it, there's a chance you can keep it.

What Is The Fortnite Keycard Glitch?

As pointed out by Glitch King, you can nab the Covert Cavern keycard and shows how you can crack open the Covert vault, scoop out the goods, and still somehow keep the card. Previously, you'd use the keycard to open the vault and it would vanish from your inventory.

To pull off this trick, you'll need to complete the small task of defeating Gunnar. The IO NPC is a bullet-chucking beefcake who is notoriously hard to take out on his own, let alone with six IO cards and numerous players also populating the POI. Once you've downed Gunnar, grab the keycard and run down to the vault.

Make you already have a full inventory, as soon as you use the keycard to open the vault, grab an extra item off the ground. In the video, Glitch King nabbed a tent. If you've done it properly, the vault will be open but the keycard will sit on the ground.

What's The Point Of The Fortnite Keycard Glitch?

You might be thinking what's the point, especially as there's only one vault on the map and the keycard is supposed to be a single-use item. Once the match ends or you die, your inventory resets, however, there is a sneaky use for the returning keycard. If you throw the keycard on the ground, you could technically lure rival players into a trap, hide out, and then earn an easy kill.

A similar glitch was discovered with Drake's Map, that let players use the item indefinitely and reap some serious rewards of the Uncharted crossover. As with all these things, we expect the Epic devs to be pretty quick on the draw and spot the Fortnite vault glitch and patch it out. In the meantime, you like keycards, eh? Well, have all the keycards in the world.
