Old-school N64 fans rejoice because Banjo, Kazooie, and Conker are just some of the classic characters who could be on the way to PC.

The N64 titles of our childhood have had massive resurgence in recent times. It certainly speaks volumes that original N64 controllers - adapted for the Switch - were sold out by November 2021 and wouldn't be back in stock until the new year. So, it was no surprise that fans called on Nintendo to make some of the console's classics available for modern consoles. Nintendo delivered, making a number of titles available for the Switch. However, some creative fans have also taken it upon themselves to bring the N64 classics to other platforms.

Now, it looks as if two of the most beloved N64 games, Conker's Bad Fur Day and Banjo-Kazooie are being redeveloped by fans to be playable on PC.

Are Conker's Bad Fur Day And Banjo-Kazooie Coming To PC?

According to VGC, 2001's Conker's Bad Fur Day and 1998's Banjo-Kazooie are both being ported to the PC by fan-led development teams. The two titles join a number of classic N64 titles that could be soon on the way to PCs, along with Perfect Dark and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. However, it could be a long while before we can expect to see any sign of the wacky bear and bird or the sassy squirrel on our computer screens as transferring the titles to PC is a long and arduous process.

The whole process involves reverse-engineering the original games into the compilable C code before developers can port them into versions that are playable for PC. It can be a thankless task, no more so than when it comes to the opinion of the original publisher, in this case Nintendo, with the PC port team running the risk of a cease and desist stopping distribution - even when all the work is done.

When Will Banjo-Kazooie Be Coming To PC?

As of writing, there is no solid timetable for when Banjo-Kazooie or Conker's Bad Fur Day will be released for PC. But, given the intense amount of reverse-engineering work required to port N64 games for PC we could be in for a bit of a wait. Although having said that, Banjo-Kazooie is sitting at 55% completion. If you can't wait that long to get your hands on an N64 classic, then a fan-created PC version of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is available to download

We may not have the sweet-natured Banjo, the sassy Kazooie, or the kooky Conker on Switch at the present. However, thanks to the work of some dedicated players and developers, we may have some unofficial PC games featuring the eclectic characters sometime soon.
