Black Ops 6's best weapon has already been nerfed

The Black Ops 6 Beta has been conquered by one SMG so far, but Treyarch is tearing down its statue in favour of another.

Jackal PDW

After just a sneak peek, Black Ops 6 is already shaking up the weapon pool. The opening Beta weekend was dominated by one gun out-slaying the best assault rifles at long range and out-manoeuvring the best SMGs at close range.

Its only combat was a sniper chamber to dome, but given omnimovement's sideways dives, this gun's player mobility made hitting those shots more than a challenge. However, Black Ops 6's Open Beta is around the corner, welcoming in all fans with wide arms.

Those who might've been gearing up for target practice with the Jackal PDW will have to re-think their methods, as Treyarch has already nerfed the game's 'best' weapon.

Jackal PDW nerfed after Black Ops 6 Beta Week One

It must be something in the name. Maybe PDW stands for Post-Development Whitewash, because this wouldn't be the first time that a gun of such power with this name has been chopped from its throne after release.

Just like its namesake in Black Ops 2, the PDW started out as the best SMG in Black Ops 6, but as we enter Week Two of the Beta, Treyarch has announced its demise.

Prior to the full patch notes being released, Treyarch took to X to say that "it's getting tuned" as we "take a break from the Jackal PDW".

Black Ops 6 gets an SMG shake-up already

So, which will be the MSMC that will rise to take the place of the Jackal PDW? Well, Treyarch has revealed that the Tanto .22 will be a new SMG landing in the Beta, unlockable at the maximum level of 30, which looks to be one of the guns that will be taking over once it's unlocked.

The Tanto .22 is a similarly flexible SMG to the Jackal at first glance, and given its level, it will likely pack quite a punch as a reward for grinding that much over the Beta weekends.

The weapon pool does seem to be one of the most varied yet, and this new SMG might just be the gun that rules on Treyarch's new Shipment map.
