MW3 BO6 Boycott

Year after year, the pitchfork mob comes out in force to launch rotten tomatoes at the Call of Duty developers for making a new instalment that isn't quite to their liking.

It started when the jet packs came out, the forks were sharpened when whatever that World War II title was, and were then hauled at Activision's plethora of studios when Black Ops Cold War flipped the script on MW2019 - which appeared to be the vocal majority's favourite title in years.

But that gang is back out in full force again, as Black Ops 6 is already gathering a boycott crowd.

Black Ops 6 labelled as a 'downgrade' by MW3 fans

Taking to a Reddit post, one player has called on the mob to ditch Black Ops 6 after labelling it a "downgrade" when compared to Modern Warfare 3. "After putting in around 15 hours on the BO6 beta I genuinely just feel like it's a downgrade when compared to this game," the Redditor said.

Others agreed. One player said, "It was so disappointing when I tried BO6 and immediately wanted to go back to MW3." A third critic added, "BO6 is awful, I'm skipping again this year." Considering the frosty reception MW3 got upon release (being branded the worst in the franchise's history), it's quite the turnaround.

As for why there's a sudden love for MW3 and hatred for 2024's CoD offering, fans have already called out inconsistencies with the 'sus' new features and issues with the map pool.

Call of Duty fans already plan to boycott Black Ops 6

How many people are planning on skipping Bo6 and staying on this game?

The Black Ops 6 Beta has been quite hit-and-miss, with the maps being the crux of the problems. New locales have left little to desire in the small skirmishing department but next to nothing for those wider core Hardpoint maps.

So, just as some did in Cold War, the Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer faithful are set to skip over Black Ops 6, too, leaving Treyarch with their own loyal community and not much else - although you get the feeling that the Black Ops devs are quite content with that philosophy.

Simply put, you can't please everyone, especially given the wide variety of tastes in the Call of Duty community. Apparently, some players will prefer to stay on arguably one of the most boring titles in the series' 20-year-old history...
