We regular Call of Duty players sure love a good throwing knife. Back in the day, noob tubes were replaced by cross-map Tomahawks and knives, as players would launch their equipment from spawn in the hope of getting an instant kill.

But Black Ops 6 is doing what Treyarch does best: going bigger and better than what came before. This is true for throwing knives as well, as it appears a Homing Knife is coming, which adds aimbot to a blade that's loaded with dynamite. Unfortunately, fans already have major fears about its impact on multiplayer.

Black Ops 6 fans fear the Homing Knife could break multiplayer

As seen during the Black Ops 6 Campaign gameplay reveal at Gamescom's Open Night Live, a Homing Knife has been added to players' kit, which appears to be collectable throughout missions.

The knife was used in the reveal, as it shows Troy Marshall selecting the equipment from a wheel of different back-pocket toys (like grenades). He then wields it and launches it at a rabble of enemies - soon blowing them to smithereens.

Fans fear that this might be a step too far for multiplayer, effectively giving the user aimbot. "Bro imagine getting crossmapped by this sh*t in multiplayer," one fan cried. Another added, "I hope not," as players quizzed its arrival in multiplayer.

Others joked that the Batman Arkham games had prepared them to take over in Black Ops 6 with the Batarang, suggesting that anyone who has meddled in both Asylum and any Max Payne game might be going straight to the top of the ranked ladders.

Black Ops 6's Homing Knife could be a multiplayer killstreak

The most obvious solution to this conundrum is that the homing knife is a killstreak. The Black Ops 6 Campaign showed a range of different killstreaks available for usage, such as an RC-XD, which makes a neat home for such a weapon.

Enemy-locking killstreaks are no stranger to the series, with the most recent Mosquito drone (the singular dart that appears in a Swarm) being used to deal precise explosions.

Slotting in a Homing Knife as a low-tier killstreak could be the perfect place for such a weapon, knowing that it won't be as favoured as a UAV or Hellstorm/Cruise missile but could still be a fun way to get some cheap kills.

Still, it might be worth adding Arkham Asylum to your playlist before Black Ops 6, as it appears the Wayne-Payne combination will be a winner in 2024.
