For a brief moment in the Black Ops Cold War campaign, Treyarch introduced human meat shields, allowing the protagonist to wound their enemy and then grab their body to use as a riot shield against other enemies.
But this feature didn't translate over to multiplayer and was lost in history for the last four years. Black Ops 6 is changing that, though, as early gameplay leaks have shown that human shields are coming to multiplayer - leaving players begging for proximity chat.
Human riot shields leaked for Black Ops 6 multiplayer
Following the leaked jailbroken PS4 build that has allowed players to access an unfinished form of Black Ops 6, one clip has shown that you will be able to hold an opponent close to your body and use them as a shield.
The clip suggests that the human shield will be a finishing move, assassinating them from behind will then capture the opponent, granting you leave to use your pistol to gain more kills before ending the pain of your sacrifice shield.
It's not clear how the physics works yet, whether ricochet bullets will still harm you, or even if the human shield will be able to escape if the player who started the finishing move dies.
Black Ops 6 fans want proximity chat to mock human shields
Call of Duty multiplayer has toyed with proximity chat in Modern Warfare 2, and players are now hoping this feature translates to Black Ops 6 to "hear the screams" of their assassinated foes.
"PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE. Make it so when you do this you can talk to the person you grabbed lmao I will pay absurd amounts of dollarydoos," said one fan. Another agreed, adding, "Hearing them scream for their life would be incredible lmao."
A third fan concluded, "They need to let us talk to the whole team it would be funny to hold someone hostage and make it a scene from a movie."
Proximity chat hasn't yet been revealed as a feature for Black Ops 6, but knowing how much Treyarch loves to have fun with CoD, you might want to keep your eyes (and ears) open for post-launch content.
