Black Ops 6's leaked Firing Range has players feeling 'underwhelmed' compared to XDefiant and Apex Legends, with fans already asking Treyarch to upgrade it.

For years, Call of Duty players have yearned for a real firing range, often opting to move over to private matches and custom lobbies in order to test out weapons.

It was only until Modern Warfare 2 that players could actually stay in the lobby and test out their guns against moving targets in a firing range.

But, the gun lane is pretty basic, and with more of the same being lined up for Black Ops 6, it's left players "underwhelmed" and calling for a glow-up akin to Apex Legends or XDefiant.

Black Ops 6 fans demand an Apex-like Firing Range

Much like every other detail of Black Ops 6, leaks have emerged showing the Firing Range. No, not the notorious Treyarch multiplayer map that comes with Nuketown, but rather the pre-game weapon-testing area.

However, the underwhelming area appears to be a copy-and-paste job from previous iterations, albeit with a gimmicky wooden saloon appearance. It looks more like the inside of a cardboard box than an area to fire .50 calibre rifles.

Players were hoping for much more from this simple area, especially after seeing the likes of Apex Legends and XDefiant having open areas to move around and test weapons against a variety of different targets and ranges.

With the leaks circulating, players have taken to social media to call on the devs to take inspiration from other games and give us a better range.

"PLEASE UPGRADE THE FIRING RANGE!!! Most players are in here multiple times a day and [Black Ops 6] looks even worse," said popular content creator "IceManIsaac".

"Look at XDefiant: Real-time TTK and accuracy calculations, recoil plot comparison area, dozens of targets at varying ranges/elevations, room to practice movement, etc," he added. "This has been an underwhelming and sorely underdeveloped mechanic for years."

Other fans agreed, with one saying, "I was praying we would get an Apex style firing range, especially since we have whole new movement mechanics, a firing range like that would be perfect. We might as well be in a phone booth right now."

Call of Duty has even had a bigger pre-game lobby area with a range and a small circuit available, back when WWII was the prominent title. Still, there's time for Black Ops 6 to tinker with this area before the game's full release. Either way, we're hoping to see improvements later this year.
