NFTs are a scourge on the gaming industry, but that isn't going to stop developers from trying to make a pass at them.

Valve took on the suggestions of NFT bros a whole decade before the practice was popular, and it bombed massively - but developers are still adamant that they can work in video games. If not for the consumer, at least, for the developer's pockets.

They're the closest thing to a money-making scheme that gaming has seen since the arrival of the loot box, and though NFTs will have their group of fanboys, gamers are widely adamant that they can't work in video games.

And now, Blizzard has come forward to comment on the future of NFTs in their games.

Blizzard Comments On The Future Of NFTs

As more and more companies consider implementing NFTs into their titles, a senior member of Blizzard has come forward to make their position on them very clear.

After it was rumoured that Activision were polling players on their general opinions of the practice, editor of VGC, Andy Robinson, tweeted their news story covering it - and the President of Blizzard, Mike Ybarra, was quick to set the record straight.

"No one is doing NFTs," he said succinctly in a reply. Well, that's that cleared up.

Why Do Players Expect NFTs From Blizzard?

Fans have been concerned that Activision Blizzard has intended to introduce NFTs to its games, as a YouGov poll was pitched to gamers, seemingly on behalf of Call of Duty, asking about their opinions on NFTs, the metaverse, and the blockchain at large.

The poll has raised a lot of eyebrows, and made players nervous - but thankfully, it doesn't look like Activision Blizzard is particularly keen on the practice.

NFTs are yet to be a good and reasonable addition to the gaming world, and it's clear that Activision Blizzard can see that. Now, all we need to do is get Ubisoft to see the error of their ways with their Quartz program, and we'll be in the clear.
