It looks like the Bloodborne hype train is rolling into town once again, and while we sadly don't have any news on whether Sony is going to deliver the long-mooted new-gen remaster, PC port, or (dare we say it?) mythical sequel, the game just got the boost it needs.

While it's hard to pick the 'best' FromSoftware game, Bloodborne holds a special place in many of our hearts. 2015's gothic romp through the vampiric bowels of Yharnam is regarded as one of the best video games ever made, and with that legacy, it's a shame it's been left to rot. It's criminal we still don't have 60 FPS capabilities

For all its successes, Bloodborne is sadly still shackled to the PlayStation. Thankfully, Game Director Hidetaka Miyazaki has sparked hopes that the rumoured PC port isn't the stuff of legends. Speaking to PC Gamer, Miyazaki said he'd love to see a PC release...one day.

Referring to FromSoftware producer Yasuhiro Kitao and interpreter Bobby Simpson who were sat near him at the time, Miyazaki said, "I know for a fact these guys want a Bloodborne PC port...If I say I want one, I'll get in trouble as well. But it's nothing I'm opposed to."

Although this is far from confirming the next Sony State of Play is suddenly going to reveal a Bloodborne PC port, Miyazaki admitted, "Obviously, as one of the creators of Bloodborne, my personal, pure honest opinion is I'd love more players to be able to enjoy it.

"Especially as a game that is now coming of age, one of those games of the past that gets lost on older hardware—I think any game like that, it'd be nice to have an opportunity for more players to be able to experience that and relive this relic of the past. So as far as I'm concerned, that's definitely not something I'd be opposed to."

The Bloodborne problem

Bloodborne throne and boss battle

With the big man himself giving Bloodborne's PC release the nod, you might think it's a simple case of giving Yharnam a fresh lick of paint and adding it to Sony's growing list of PC releases like God of War Ragnarok. Sadly, there are a few bumps in the road.

As PC Gamer notes, Miyazaki recently explained why it's not that easy to IGN. In March 2024, the FomSoft boss said, "Unfortunately, and I’ve said this in other interviews, it's not in my place to talk about Bloodborne specifically. We simply don’t own the IP at FromSoftware.

"For me personally, it was a great project, and I have a lot of great memories for that game, but we're not at liberty to speak to it. I’m very sorry about that." Sony is the sole owner of the Bloodborne IP, and while we're there's no evidence that we'll ever revisit the game, at least the gaming giant acknowledges Bloodborne's existence
