Yharnam is calling our name, and after what seems like an eternity of waiting, FromSoftware could be about to raise the "stakes" with a new-gen Bloodborne remaster. Although it's been eight years since this vampiric masterpiece infected us, Bloodborne has never been far from our thoughts.

While FromSoft has since moved onto bigger things like Dark Souls IIISekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and the gargantuan lore of Elden Ring, Bloodborne is often cited as the developer's best. In an era where remasters and remakes are a dime a dozen, are we finally sinking our teeth into the Bloodborne remaster we were promised?

Is a Bloodborne remaster coming?

We're sure you've all heard the rumours of a Bloodborne remaster before, and every time there's a PlayStation showcase, the 2015 title starts to trend on Twitter. We've consistently had our dreams shattered, but according to one man who may be in the know, it could be time to knit our broken hearts back together.

During a recent live stream, God of War creator David Jaffe said he'd heard things from a "couple of people" about something Bloodborne. "I don't know if it's a remaster. I don't know if it's just a PC version, but we know it's in development," said Jaffe.

Asking, "But when are they gonna show it?" there are strong possibilities that a heavily rumoured May PlayStation showcase could finally be the time to unleash Bloodborne back onto us all. The success of Bluepoint's Demon's Souls should be a good indicator that a Bloodborne remaster would sell like hotcakes.

As for the idea of Bloodborne sequel, Jaffe added, "I don't think Bloodborne 2 is in development." Lies of P looks like it'll scratch that Bloodborne itch for a bit, while there's also the much-hyped Bloodborne demake that's been grabbing headlines, however, we're left starved of actual Bloodborne news.

Jaffe backpedals on the Bloodborne hype

As you can imagine, news for a Bloodborne remaster from someone like Jaffe quickly caught on. When it started trending (again), Jaffe backtracked quicker than you can say "NDA," taking to Twitter to clear up the confusion. In a gruff response, Jaffe snapped, "It drives me batsh*t, I don't have insider knowledge."

He continued, "It's not like I'm breaking some big story, everyone has been talking about the Bloodborne thing...I never said it was going to be at the show, even if there is a show this summer." In the end, Jaffe concluded, "I don't f*****g know."

While Jaffe said he hopes there's a remake because Bloodborne is one of the few games he's actually finished, he might be in the dark as much as we are. For now, we're banishing those Bloodborne rumours back to the crypt of ifs, buts, and maybes.
