It has been a year to forget as a Zombies fan in the Call of Duty community, with the Modern Warfare experience being promising yet unnurtured, no round-based maps, and news of scrapped concepts rubbing salt into the wounds.
But hope is high for next year - or later this annum - as Treyarch resumes control of the series and has had four years to fine-tune the undead experience.
Now, the latest leaks might just be the custard to your betty, as it looks like the upcoming 2024 Zombies experience is heading back to the style of Cold War.
Although it had Outbreak, which is also rumoured to be returning, Cold War had some of the best round-based Zombies experiences that Call of Duty has had in the better part of a decade, maybe since Black Ops 3 with Der Eisandrache eight years ago.
And it all centred around four-player lobbies.
Leaks have now claimed that this core experience will be returning, after a year of playing in threes which was enforced by DMZ's limitations.
Popular leaker "Bob" has revealed datamined file lines which show four players in the lobbies, all of which will be doing a feature that also appears to be returning from Cold War.
Exfils set to return to Call of Duty Zombies in 2024
The round-based game had Exfiltration elements too, and now leakers are claiming that this feature is returning to the series, to allow players to leave their Zombies matches with all of their acquired goodies.
Bob's leaks also continue to reference Garnet, which is set to be one of the launch maps (or its codename) played out on some kind of shipwreck.
The iconic gumball machine is set to return too, as Call of Duty 2024 Zombies promises to scare your socks off as well as provide solid gameplay.
So, if you're like the majority of players who preferred Cold War Zombies to Modern Warfare 3, then you're in for a treat in 2024.
