With the emergence of Warzone Resurgence, Ranked in Season 2, the graft to gain SR and schmooze the ladder to gain divisions has gotten well underway.
But that's led to some rather cheesy behaviour as players are buying into 'taps,' which is effectively dishing out free SR at the expense of ruining the pace of Ranked matches. But not anymore, as Treyarch has addressed the controversial taps feature in Warzone.
Warzone Resurgence Ranked confronts its 'taps' issue
Taps is a system that refers to assists in Warzone, where players would get SR for finishing off a downed enemy, as well as the player who brought the opponent to the floor.
This quickly led to teams safeguarding their fallen foes so that their squad could come in and collect the SR to finish them off, changing the pace from electric warfare to herding cattle.
The SR-sharing system has been in Warzone since Al Mazrah, but has only become disruptive in Fortune's Keep. It's all because it creates a "stop-start" feel to the matches and has been criticised on social media as of late.
Treyarch pledges to remove Taps in future Warzone update
Treyarch is already on the case, and has taken to a blog post to announce that they are removing that "taps" scoring from SR in Ranked.
"In a future update, we will adjust how Kill & Assist SR is awarded when engaging with downed enemies to mitigate ‘tap’ gameplay and increase competitive integrity of the SR system," the Ranked developers said on social media.
Assists will now only count towards the damage dealt while the enemy was alive and running, rather than half-dead and downed.
"This change will also help streamline gameplay by preventing disruptions rooted in prolonging eliminations to "tap"," Treyarch added. It's not clear when said update will go live, although Treyarch's communication likely means that the fix is imminent.
