It's been five full years of Warzone action. Call of Duty's second attempt at a battle royale - or third if you count the Chinese CoD Online variant - hit the mark and has been one of the greatest live-service games ever since.

The first two-and-a-half years were spent skirmishing on Verdansk, and the fabled map has never been knocked off its perch as the best Warzone map to be released. Thar comes despite attempts from Caldera, Al Mazrah, and Urzikstan.

Now, as Call of Duty takes notes from Fortnite's OG success, Verdansk will officially return in spring 2025.

Treyarch confirms Verdansk will come back in Spring 2025

Verdank's return has been heavily rumoured for some time, but as Treyarch lined up its plans for Urzikstan Ranked play and the future of Resurgence underneath Area 99's flagship, Verdansk was confirmed.

The original Warzone map will be coming to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the battle royale in "spring 2025", which insinuates that the release period will be around March 10. This would fit nicely with when the BR first came out. It would play into the hands of Season 2 Reloaded, which was aired on March 6 this year.

The developers didn't discuss the specifics of which Verdansk we would get, although the OG map had multiple variants, from the day-one design to the nuked 1980s throwback during the Cold War era.

It's likely that the devs might give us a bit of a Fortnite-esque run where the map will evolve quite quickly, seeing the first variant be followed by the Stadium opening within a matter of weeks rather than having to wait months.

No matter which variant returns, or whether it's a new one altogether, the community will be eating up every inch of Verdansk's tarmac when it arrives.
