When you think of classic Call of Duty games, Modern Warfare 2 (2009), Call of Duty 4, and the OG Black Ops all come to mind. However, there's one particular title that's definitely a fan-favourite, but also tends to be forgotten by a lot of the community.

We're talking about the "classic" Call of Duty: World at War that originally hit the shelves over 15 years ago, all the way back in 2008. CoD fans have been doing some reflecting, and they've realised they're desperate for Activision to remaster World at War.

CoD fans want a remaster for "classic" World at War

Taking to Twitter, popular Call of Duty content creator ExoGhost decided to share their opinion that "World at War is one of the best Call of Duty games."

For them, it deserves to be "remastered" and brought into the modern age, with a completely refreshed multiplayer. A lot of users agreed, claiming the "gritty" and "dark" multiplayer was nothing like any of the CoDs since.

"Thank you for the realest take ever, It literally is the original triple threat, gritty multiplayer, emotional campaign and absolute classic of a coop experience." said one user, with another arguing, "Such a slept-on MP, the maps were great, and this is the true experience for WW2 COD."

CoD players crown World at War as the 'GOAT' of the franchise

For a lot of the community, talking about World at War again made them realise how brilliant the game truly was in its heyday. It even led some fans to crown it as the "GOAT" of CoD titles and potentially the best in the entire franchise.

"The BEST call of duty game in the whole franchise," said one user, with another arguing it's the undisputed "GOAT of COD." With Modern Warfare 3 playing on nostalgia for MW2 (2009), you can guarantee the devs will be eyeing World at War in the future.

The only worry for WaW fans is that a remaster won't do it justice, and may taint its reputation in the CoD Hall of Fame.
