Call of Duty fans find one skin that ‘blocks’ hacks

If Activision figures out how to do this with every skin, we're in business baby!

Warzone Rook

Like so many other millions of Call of Duty players around the globe, I’m fed up with cheaters. Ever since Warzone came out, hacks have gone through the roof, and RICOCHET has failed to bounce them back to wherever they came from.

It’s a problem that has heightened tenfold since the battle royale blew up and PC gaming became the norm for CoD, but what if there was a way to make yourself legitimately safe from enemy hackers? Well, that’s the theory suggested by one fan, who claims one skin is somehow invisible to aimbot.

Call of Duty fan claims one skin blocks aimbot

YouTuber "NukeJesus" has claimed that the Rook skin in Call of Duty "blocks aimbot", making you invisible to the cheat and immune to hacks.

The YouTuber released a video showing that the skin's hitbox is completely abnormal. While it works for a normal player to shoot at, anyone with an aimbot is diverted away from the target, like two negative charges on a battery.

Only when the hacker actively pulls their aim back to the target will a bullet connect; basically, the hacker needs to play properly to kill you.

NukeJesus tried this with a hacker in a private lobby, testing their skills against a bot with a normal hitbox and someone with the Rook skin on.

What seemed apparent is that the aimbot is also much, much less accurate at range or behind cover, making this perfect for Warzone, where long-range gunfights are more frequent.

Interestingly, as the YouTuber pointed out, if Activision was to figure out why the Rook hitbox is so abnormal and change the rest of the Operators to a similarly defunct status, this could be a method to avoid cheaters altogether. Or, it could break the game entirely.

The Rook skin was available in a previous battle pass and, therefore, already unlocked by a large majority of players. Unfortunately, it won't be back in the store to purchase.

Still, if you do have the Rook skin unlocked, it might be best to use it for the foreseeable future...especially in Warzone. Here's to hoping another broken character arrives in Black Ops 6.
