It’s been (eighty) four years, said Titanic survivor Rose, but little did we know she wasn’t talking about the sinking ship or the loss of her love, but rather how long it has been since Treyarch released a Call of Duty game.

They’re back, nearly, as Black Ops appears to be on its way towards a sixth series instalment.

But with five other games in its line of succession, fans are now hoping that Treyarch remembers its roots.

CoD fans fend off hopes of a full Black Ops 1 remaster

Call of Duty games have often paid homage to older games. MW3 has reeled off throwbacks to Vanguard and Advanced Warfare, and soon-to-be Black Ops 3 if leaks are to be believed.

So, Call of Duty fans are eyeing Black Ops 6 as the perfect opportunity to relive some Black Ops 1 content.

In a Reddit thread titled "Am I the only one who thinks bo1 should get a remaster", a lot of fans rubbished the idea of having the classic title completely remade,

"They would remaster it but it would be a shell of its former self. No barracks, no game recording etc., and then add a few new guns in a battle pass with Nicki Minaj and 21 Savage lol. Better to die a hero as the saying goes," one fan said.

Fans would rather elements of the game woven into the sixth instalment, much akin to how other remastered content has been embedded into this year's game.

Call of Duty fans hopeful Black Ops 1 gets its flowers in 2024

Already, Black Ops 6 does appear to be teasing some BO1 content, with leaks indicating that the Mustang and Sally seen on the cover art will return as pistol blueprints in MW3 and onwards.

Some maps have been regurgitated from BO1, such as Jungle and Summit, but there's a wealth more that could be spruced up for the modern experience, such as Villa, Grid, Radiation, Hanoi, and Havana.

"I hated paying for DLC, but at least we'd get new maps back then," added a second.

Others eyed a Master Chief Collection-styled Black Ops release, similar to those who were recently asking for the Modern Warfare trilogies to be bound together.

Black Ops 6 has had four years of development, so whether it needs to add remastered maps or not is yet to be known, but it would be cool to have some more tokens of nostalgia just sprinkled through the title.
