Due to Call of Duty's heightened fascination with skill-based matchmaking in public and casual lobbies, many multiplayer games fizzle out, and players leave when times get tough.

Not only does this serve as a coward's way out, choosing to re-queue to find easier pub-stomping foes rather than trying harder to keep up to pace with equally skilled enemies, but it also ruins the game for the other players in the lobby.

With this in mind, players are now debating whether it's finally time to bring the Probation system to Black Ops 6, which bans people who leave games too often.

Call of Duty fans call for Probation system to return in Black Ops 6

Taking to Reddit, one player argued that bringing back Probation (previously seen in Black Ops 2 public lobbies) would mean "people wouldn’t be leaving all that much," making a case that the system would benefit lobby health.

Others agreed, "Yes. When I play solo I find 3-4 of my team leave as soon as it’s a difficult game making a win impossible… rage quitting ruins the game for your teammates," said someone else.

Another added, "Put it in Warzone. The number of times I’ve had people lose a gulag and then quit (the two sounds are almost simultaneously the one now) is insane. Especially when I’ve had the $ to buy them back anyway."

Others argued that this should only apply to games like Warzone or Zombies rather than multiplayer, where skill-based matchmaking is so severe that it makes lobbies unenjoyable and being forced to suffer through them is enough for them to leave Call of Duty alone.

Probation would perish players with poor connection and servers

Of course, there is the elephant in the room: Call of Duty's servers. Sometimes, players are kicked from games for reasons out of their control.

"My electricity went out for the billionth time and when I try play again: nope. You are banned for 3 minutes because you've been disconnected," hypothesised a final player, pointing out the flaw.

Unless Call of Duty really sorts out its server issues, the brutal Probation system would really perish players. Even then, not everyone can afford the best WiFi in the world, and being disconnected isn't always a conscious decision and punishing players severely for having a bad connection isn't a good look for CoD.

Naturally, Probation might be best kept to Ranked play in Black Ops 6, but there could be other ways to motivate players to complete a full game, rather than leaving if the lobby's SBMM has been cranked up.
