Call of Duty fans turn against ‘pointless’ Black Ops 6 Campaign

Black Ops 6's new Campaign changes have players feeling like the story mode is "pointless".

Black Ops 6 Campaign Pointless

While Call of Duty campaigns were once extremely memorable, it's fair to say they've dropped off in recent years. The two original trilogies (Modern Warfare and Black Ops) gave us fantastic stories that made the likes of Woods and Price much more than your standard army grunt.

These epic adventures were filled with heartbreaking death, morally questionable choices, and (in Black Ops' case) some good old-fashioned torture. Who can forget "the numbers"? Well, Mason aside...

But in recent years, the Campaigns have been little to shout about. Following the disaster that was Modern Warfare 3 and its Campaign making it the worst-rated entry in the franchise's history, Activision has pulled back on the early access and left many to brand the mode as "pointless."

Activision opts out of Black Ops 6 Campaign Early Access

Unlike the last two years, there will be no Campain early access for Black Ops 6. In a statement provided to CharlieIntel, Activision said, "This year, we made the decision to ensure the community gets to dig into any and all modes that they want at the same time, so we are back to one massive global launch moment October 25th."

"As such, there is no Early Access beat this year for Black Ops 6, just the countdown to launch.” Although there's been plenty of talk about the single-player story and hyped inclusion of historical figures like Bill Clinton, the Black Ops 6 Campaign will now slot in beside Zombies and Multiplayer from the get-go.

Then again, given that Modern Warfare 3's Campaign tarnished 2023's CoD with a huge stain before the full release, it's not that surprising. Despite its flaws, the MW3 Campaign wasn't reflective of the multiplayer but still affected release day sales. The question is, without early access, is there any point in the Campaign?

Black Ops 6 fans fear that there is "no point" in a Campaign

After the news circulated on social media, it's since been criticised by fans, with claims that the Campaign is pointless - especially as it'll have to compete for popularity alongside Zombies and Multiplayer.

"Well, guess I'm not playing the campaign until I get tired of multiplayer and zombies," said one Redditor in a popular comment. Another critic tweeted, "An incredibly bad decision. This will make a lot of people forget about the campaign and not even play it."

The Modern Warfare 2 and 3 Campaigns were the first many had played in years, which was thanks in part to early access letting you effectively get out of the way. With little reason to try the Campaign, there are rightful concerns that the story mode will quickly fade into the background again. Even if Black Ops 6 bangs, how many of you are playing for the Campaign?
