Call of Duty fans are expecting a lot from Modern Warfare III. After all, to ask Infinity Ward to lead the charge on another Modern Warfare sequel when the last one only dropped last year is an awful lot, and the payoff has to be huge to justify the overworking of the team, even as continued calls for Call of Duty to take a break keep ringing. And though the beta of the game's multiplayer has gone down well, it has already let fans down in another regard.
Critics aren't loving the game's campaign, calling it out for being as thin and dull as we can expect of a campaign that has only had a year of development time.
Fans are gearing up for the hate-bombing that the weirdos have decided is the only course of action as a result - but they're shooting themselves in the foot a bit.
Call of Duty haters review-bomb the wrong game
We get the confusion, to be fair.
It looks like those hoping to give the latest Call of Duty game hell before it have stumbled on their way, as they're taking to the review pages of the wrong Modern Warfare 3. As first reported by WarzoneIntel, many are taking to the review aggregator pages of 2011's Modern Warfare 3 to pretend they've played the new game, and that they hate it. Nice one, guys.
It's worth pointing out, though, that some of the negative claims for the game are actually for the original Modern Warfare 3, as players return to the title to take it for a spin before the kind-of reboot makes its debut. Even so, it's only adding to the confusion between the titles, and the line between the two games is becoming blurrier than ever.
Fans aren't surprised by the confusion between MW3 and MWIII
Players have taken to the replies of the news being shared on Twitter, and it's clear that they've seen this kind of confusion coming. Others just think Call of Duty fans are stupid. Meanies.
It was only a matter of time before players actually started to get a bit mixed up when it comes to the titling of the rebooted Modern Warfare series. It looks like Call of Duty's nostalgia-farming has come with a Price. Pun not intended.
