While excitement for Modern Warfare 3 is at an all-time high, Warzone 2 fans are desperate to find out any details about the new BR map that's reportedly set to arrive in early December (according to leaks).
Well, following the MW3 campaign preview that was revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live, Sledgehammer posted a set of interesting tweets. Although most WZ2 fans assumed they were only related to MW3, CoD expert James "JGOD" Godoy decided to take a closer look.
According to him, it's possible that Sledgehammer has leaked the first look at the new Warzone 2 map, even giving players a bird's eye view of the landscape.
CoD may have revealed new Warzone 2 map
Alongside the MW3 campaign gameplay, Sledgehammer also posted a set of tweets showcasing some of the Open Combat Mission areas. According to JGOD, these actually feature the upcoming new Warzone 2 map.
This was confirmed by leakers who have already had a chance to see the new WZ2 map, so essentially, this is our first look at the location in-game.
"Some people have already had an opportunity to see a leaked version of the new Battle Royale map and they essentially confirmed that this is part of the new POI."
While the clips showcased in JGOD's video only give us a glimpse of the new map, they do confirm that it's not going to be a desert setting. Not only that, we also get a chance to see an Operator diving down from a plane, which gives us a birds-eye view of the mountainous landscape.
New Warzone map has Verdansk-style buildings
One of the most significant details identified by JGOD was the type of buildings featured on the new map. In his opinion, the devs have tried to replicate the structures from Verdansk, which is guaranteed to give players a massive hit of nostalgia.
"It actually shows off a lot of Verdanask-esk buildings, If you guys remember Quarry or some of the hangers... these should be recognisable."
JGOD does make it clear that the new map is "not Verdansk" and there are no plans for Activision to bring back the classic location in WZ2 anytime soon. However, a chance to see the new map is definitely exciting, and hopefully, we'll get a closer look at the new landscape with CoD NEXT on October 5, 2023.
