It would be a first for the Infinity Ward series, but apparently, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is getting a round-based zombies mode.

In what would be a first for the Modern Warfare series within Call of Duty, Treyarch's signature round-based zombies gameplay could be seemingly worming its way in through the floor and infecting Modern Warfare 2.
The battle against the under in Call of Duty has been the sole responsibility of Treyarch, who has unravelled Dr Richtofen's journey through the Illuminati and secret organisations to find the undead and become the master of the resurrected himself.
However, leaks now suggest that Modern Warfare 2 will continue to hoard the soul-eating spectres onto your screens, with a "round-based" game mode coming alongside a new version of "Outbreak".
Modern Warfare Leaks Suggest Zombies Game Mode Is Coming
According to leaks that have surfaced on Reddit, the Modern Warfare 2 menus show "Round-Based Zombies" as a game mode. The menus were previously accessed on PC through a glitch, which resulted in fans getting a sneak peek at the mastery camos.
Strangely enough, the icon was spotted alongside the likes of Hardpoint and Capture The Flag, insinuating that it will be a multiplayer game mode rather than a completely separate experience on different maps; instead, it could take place on the upcoming multiplayer landscapes and serve as a mode akin to Infected or Cold War's PS-exclusive Onslaught mode.
The leak also suggests that Outbreak is coming too, a large-scale zombies experience that became hugely popular in Black Ops Cold War. The Outbreak game mode saw zombies take over massive areas and led players to complete quests and missions throughout the experience.
Will Modern Warfare 2 Have Zombies?
Should Zombies arrive in Modern Warfare 2, it might not be in the same capacity as we are used to, considering the three prongs of MW2 will be multiplayer, campaign, and Spec Ops - also to be joined by DMZ and Warzone 2.0. Zombies could over-saturate the game if it is released in the early stages of MW2, although there's nothing to say that the game modes couldn't be added as 'Year 2' content.
Some form of zombies will almost certainly come in Infected, which has been heavily rumoured to be coming to Modern Warfare 2, although it's not the "round-based" promise that we've seen in the leaks. It would be a weird addition to Modern Warfare 2, but with Treyarch working on a ranked playlist for Infinity Ward, who's to say that they aren't also slipping in the eggs of the undead?
The leaks are certainly eyebrow-raising, to say the least, but putting Zombies into the Modern Warfare series might be the next step in the timeline that Richtofen needs, and we'd be all for it.
