We don't get how people can ever be angry at dogs, they're supposed to be your best friend. But alas, it seems there are many cat lovers in the Call of Duty community, and after the emergence of Tactical Pets in both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone, the kitty claws have come out.
Tactical Pets have arrived in Season 5, but after just a few days on the front line of Al Mazrah, some are now calling for their banishment, labelling the woofers as "pay-to-win."
Warzone players label Tactical Pets as 'pay-to-win'
Warzone's new Tactical pets come with the ability to sniff players out - as long as you have High Alert equipped, your good boy becomes even gooder and will growl if there are enemies nearby.
However, the current Tactical Pets are only available in Call of Duty if you either buy the BlackCell BattlePass (which unlocks Merlin), or by purchasing the War Hound bundle from the store for 2,400 CoD Points (which unlocks Tactical Taz, the cutest companion in the game).
With no option for Tactical Pets for free-to-play games, the feature is now being slammed as pay-to-win by some fans. One, in particular, took to Twitter to say, "Definitely pay to play, the dog growls even if the person has cold-blooded and doesn't set off High Alert from what I've seen."
Warzone players want Tactical Pets removed immediately
Pay-to-win features are a major gripe in the community, and now, players are either demanding that a free Tactical Pet comes out or they are removed entirely.
"It barks when I don't have High Alert on and when people aren't even looking at me. It's broken and 100% needs to be removed," said another fan in a popular comment.
At the moment, the dog's barks appear to overrule Cold Blooded (the counter to High Alert), which is one big problem, although any other instances only add a cute element to an already overpowered perk.
With hope, the dogs will age and forget their cold-blooded see-through skills, rather than be removed altogether, and we can go back to petting in-between gunfights.
