Over the last few months, crossbows have become quite the force in Call of Duty - whether it be in Warzone or Modern Warfare 2, as snipers have been on a downward trend.

As a critical stage in the grind for Orion camo, or as a one-shot alternative to a sniper in the battle royale, this year's crossbow might just be one of the most popular variants of the bolt-action weapon we've ever seen. So, it's a shame the crossbow is now completely broken in MW2.

Modern Warfare 2's crossbow will not finish off downed enemies

With Warzone 2 making the Crossbow quite imperious as one of the best one-shot snipers in the game (thanks to the explosive rounds), players have been getting used to the arrow-firing rifle in MW2 too.

However, ahead of the Season 4 update, gamers have now found that the bows are completely broken and will not register any damage to a player who has been downed (using the Survivor perk).

Taking to Reddit, someone showcased themselves firing three bows into a TimTheTatman Operator enemy as they tried to self-revive, all of which dealt no damage despite the arrow penetrating the character and being visibly stuck in their torso.

The original clip poster claimed that this is not just a bug on one occurrence either, insisting it repeatedly happened in public games. "I noticed it after it happened twice in 2 different games," they said.

With that solidifying the broken crossbow, fans were quick to mock the developers, using their usual strapline of "The most advanced Call of Duty in history," to enjoy a cheap jibe.

Another fan added, "Tim just has extra padding that helps protect him," while others referred to the recent Call of Duty and Skyrim 'crossover' by saying, "Needed an arrow to the knee".

Maybe the most broken aspect of the game is the Survivor Perk though, which most fans agree that doesn't belong in a multiplayer game and hasn't since Last Stand was scrapped over a decade ago.
