Call of Duty players want 'old school' mode to return in MW3

Call of Duty players are desperate for an "old school" game mode to return in Modern Warfare 3, as there was no sign of it in the Beta.

Modern Warfare 3 certainly isn't afraid to go back to the roots of Call of Duty, marking the return of the fan-favourite ACR and of course, the classic MW2 (2009) maps in a remastered form.

While Sledgehammer has been criticised by some for re-using too much old content, others are desperate for the devs to revisit even more "old school" features.

However, this time it's not weapons or locations, but a specific game mode that was immensely popular back in MW2 (2009).

While it's less well-known now, some CoD fans are convinced the iconic mode would make a resurgence if the devs introduced it to MW3.

CoD fans want OG Demolition mode back in MW3

Taking to the ModernWarfareIII subreddit, user STRoke_Face_ revealed that they "had a blast playing the Beta," but one feature felt missing on the old-school maps.

In their opinion, it's time Demolition made a comeback, with them arguing it's guaranteed to be a "big" hit with the community.

A lot of other fans agreed, claiming "Wasteland and Derailed would be epic for this mode," two maps that typically don't have the best reputation for TDM and S&D. So, Demolition could be the perfect solution in MW3.

Some of the community are just confused as to why Demolition seems to disappear in certain CoD titles and suddenly pop up again in others. For them, it should be a staple in the Call of Duty mode list.

How does the Demolition mode work in Call of Duty?

Demolition Mode CoD

If you're unfamiliar with how Demolition works, here's a quick rundown of the classic mode that may make an appearance in MW3.

Effectively, Demolition is very similar to Search and Destroy, with one team aiming to destroy the bomb sites and another aiming to defend them.

The main differences are that the Demolition mode has unlimited respawns for players and every attacker has a bomb. There are a maximum of three rounds per match and a score limit of two. The bomb sites must be destroyed by the attackers within a certain time limit and if they fail, the defenders win.

One of the most popular aspects of Demolition though is the fixed spawns, meaning trapping is possible. This may also be one of the reasons why Sledgehammer keeps it out of MW3, but we'll have to wait and see.
