While the Call of Duty series has been inflating in size - quite literally, we all know about those gargantuan updates - the scale of the screens which we play it on have been shrinking.
Following the launch of CoD Mobile and Warzone Mobile, the series has landed in the plan of players' hands around the world, and now it might be getting used to the handheld universe.
Rumours have now begun swirling that Call of Duty's Switch port is close, as official affiliate pages have begun toying with Nintendo.
Call of Duty might be coming to the Switch soon
As pointed out on Reddit, the official account for Call of Duty Brazil has begun interacting with different Nintendo profiles, including Switch influencers.
The page tweeted a pair of emoji eyes in relation to a Nintendo x Call of Duty announcement being aired at the Direct showcase on August 27.
Nintendo's Direct Partner Showcase didn't have any references to Call of Duty in it, which took place in the early afternoon on August 27, but the CoD Brazil account has now taken down its tweets which appears to be a rather sheepish attempt at backtracking.
Despite not featuring at Direct, people still think that Call of Duty might be coming to the Switch rather soon.
Microsoft signed deals with Nintendo to bring some form of Call of Duty content to their consoles within the next ten years from the date of the Activision merger, but nothing has yet come of the partnership.
As to what type of Call of Duty content, it's probably more feasible to think that Warzone Mobile and CoD Mobile will be the port supported by the Switch, rather than the massive main series, given its limitations and performance.
Still, I wouldn't mind the chance to get hands-on, literally, with some shooting from the comfort of my couch, rather than being locked away in the man cave. It would save me from endless EastEnders episodes...
